Virginia M. Records passed away at age 91, on April 1st, 2024, at her home in Baton Rouge, LA, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 11, 1932 in Newark, DE to the late John Fletcher Thornton and Mary Anna Tweed. She grew up in Newark, DE and graduated from Newark High School in 1950. She played both field hockey & basketball there. She married her high school sweetheart, William C. Records (Bill) on August 19, 1950, and together they raised four children.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Virginia remains loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Records (Bill); and a sister, Bertha Jane Thornton.
She is survived by her children: daughter, Robin L. Brown (Jeff), son, Bill Records (Ann Marie), son, James Fletch Records (Debbie), and daughter, Gail L. Records-Jennings (Steve); along with her beloved 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 1:30pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 12:00pm. Interment will be held in White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
