Virginia (Ginny) L. Totman, age 85, of
Mount Vernon, Ohio believed Psalms 30:5 "weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." Her loving family is overcome with joy for Ginny as she is absent from the body and present with the Lord. She was called "home" on December 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in her own home! Ginny was born on August 15, 1939 in Pickaway County, Ohio the first daughter of Roy and Mary Baney. She moved to Mount Vernon at an early age and graduated from Mount Vernon Senior High School.
Ginny was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. Ginny was a homemaker and in-home day care provider for many children, throughout their formative years. She had also been a care giver for family members and friends. Ginny, a devoted wife and Mother who led by example to be faithful in the Lord shared her faithfulness through her grandchildren and great children. Ginny was a member of Fatih Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. She enjoyed many activities - thrifting, bird watching and outdoor activities such as bicycling, walking and kayaking. "Boots" as she was fondly called by her husband, and then, all of the kids and their spouses, and later by the grandkids and even the great grandchildren referred to her as "Grandma Boots" or "Bootsie."
Ginny was preceded in death in 2018 by the love of her life and her constant life-long companion of 60+ years, Robert C. (Bob) Totman. She was also preceded in death by her oldest child and only son, Terry Totman (2023), her parents Roy and Mary, oldest brother Richard Baney, younger sister, Sheri Kuninger and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Esther Totman.
Ginny is survived by her daughter-in-law Lori Totman, beloved daughters and sons-in-law Tammy (Kerry) Goetzman and Debbie (Mike) Nauman; four grandchildren, Bob (Ashli) Goetzman, Kelly (Todd) Hawkins, Amanda (Jeremy) Hubbard and Tracy (Luke) Mickley; eleven great grandchildren, Tyler and Madi Goetzman, Carter and Quinn Hawkins, Reese, Cohen, Brooks and Gunnar Hubbard, Cora, Jace and Ellie Mickley. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Johnny and Linda Baney, nephew Mike Kuninger, nieces, Natalie Barnes, Barb Koch, Chris Kuninger, Brenda Totman, Suzette Romani, Kristen Davidson.
The family would like to thank care giver, Mona Morehouse, for her constant love and support and also her prayer time with Ginny over the many years of in-home care.
A Service will be held on December 30 at Faith Baptist Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road,
Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Calling hours begin at 10:00 a.m. with service following at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Matt Otto will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Knox Parks Fund, managed by the Knox County Foundation.
