Virginia Ellen Vandewarker, age 84, of Merrill, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Hampton Manor in Montrose.
Virginia was born January 26, 1940, in Auburn Heights, the daughter of Chester and Ellen (Hamm) Dixon. She graduated from Clarkston High School. Virginia married Albert "Ed" Vandewarker on September 11, 1959, in Clarkston at her parent's house; a blessed union of 61 years before Ed's passing in 2020. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Merrill Wesleyan Church. Virginia enjoyed painting, camping, cooking, baking, sewing and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Brad) Harris; a son, Jim (Angie) Vandewarker; six grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel), Joshua (Sarah), Emily (Matthew), Elisabeth, Rebekah and Katherine; great grandchildren Jack, Morgan, Hope, Gus, Madilyn, Callen, with another on the way, and siblings Bob (Sharon) Dixon, Marty (John) VanCamp, and Chuck (Cerise) Dixon.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Shirley.
A memorial service celebrating Virginia's life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1 pm at the Merrill Wesleyan Church with Pastor Glen Pettigrove officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 12 pm until the time of service at the church. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Merrill Wesleyan Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge.
