Virginia, Ginny, Mom, and her favorite, Grandma, passed away on August 11, 2023.
Virginia was born on October 4, 1937 and was a lifelong resident of Forsyth and Hall Counties. She was the youngest daughter of the late A.P. and Sallie Whelchel Pinson. As a young girl, she helped on the family dairy farm milking cows and delivering milk before school. Her work ethic was unquestionable and a trait she exhibited her entire life. She attended Riverbend and Chestatee High School and went on to attend Brenau College. She married Glenn Waldrip in 1958 and together they created a loving home for their two daughters that was filled with love and hard work. Many weekends were spent making memories camping in the mountains or visiting the Great Smoky Mountains.
Virginia worked outside the home for Purina and later Fieldale Farms from where she retired. She and her husband Glenn enjoyed gardening and selling produce at local farmer markets for over 15 years. She also enjoyed canning, cooking and most of all feeding her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother, but her pride and joy came in her grandchildren; Hannah, Hunter, Cooper, and Chandler, who were all celebrated at birth, rocked to sleep, fed too many sweets, prayed for and loved endlessly. She loved her family fiercely and prioritized time with family over everything in life. She had a great sense of humor and loved funny greeting cards, practical jokes and good-hearted teasing.
She is preceded in death by her close siblings and their spouses: Clyde and Cordell Pinson, Eula Mae and JW Bagwell, Wilburn and Floy Pinson, George and Mauline Pinson, Lounell and JH Holcomb, and her infant grandson, Zachary Cook.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 65 years Glenn Waldrip, her daughters and son in laws; Lisa (Brian) Young of Gainesville, Gina (Mike) Cook of Roswell, granddaughter Hannah Young (Dan Christopher - Fiancé) of Tampa, FL, grandsons: Hunter (Beth Anne) Young of Alpharetta, Cooper Cook of Roswell/Athens and Chandler Cook of Roswell.
She attended Chestatee Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 15th at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Rd. Gainesville, GA 30504. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 PM. Service will be held in the chapel at 3:00pm followed by internment in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as both organizations were dear to her.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.
