Virl Jean Burke Everette of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born in Spartanburg on November 24, 1938 to the late Marcus Daniel Burke and Lillie Mae Burke.

Virl graduated from Fairforest High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen. She went on to earn an associates degree and have a fulfilling career with Spartanburg Regional Hospital in the Business Office. Virl enjoyed tending to her garden of beautiful flowers, taking care of her cats, and traveling, but most of all she loved her family. Her three grandchildren brought her great joy.

She is survived by her son, Chris Everette (Mary Ann); daughter, Gina Campbell (James); and grandchildren, Aaron Everette (Laura), Hailee Campbell, and Bryson Campbell. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Albert Burke.

Visitation will be 12:00-1:15pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 126 Fort Prince Road, Wellford, SC 29385, conducted by Rev. Kevin Smith.

In honor of Virl, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303, or to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, SC 29356.
