Vita Theodora Halperin, age 87, of Wall NJ, beloved wife of the late Saul " Sully" Halperin, entered into eternal life on December 20th, 2024. Vita was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and lived in Hackensack and Bradley Beach, New Jersey before settling in Wall, NJ. Vita worked for thirty+ years at Merrill Lynch in Paramus. While there, she earned the adoration of her coworkers and became an unofficial mentor to many of the younger workers who remained in contact with Vita. They remember her for her determination and dedication to her work.
Vita was passionate about dolls and her home was a showcase of ceramic dolls and other beautifully decorated items. She was impeccable with both her dress and jewelry which extended into her home furnishings. Her home was always embellished to reflect whatever holiday was approaching, but Christmas was a spectacular arrangement of dolls, figures, lights and other adornments to reflect the spirit of the season. Vita was an outstanding cook. Friends and family could always be assured of having an elaborate meal with all the finest China and silverware at Vita's place. A recreational gambler, if she was not at a local casino, you could find her strolling on the Jersey Boardwalk because she was an avid ocean lover. She was also an excellent bridge player. She was able to travel with many tours around the world along with many cruises. She was an extraordinarily generous and kind person, but not one to be taken advantage of because she could also be very tenacious if she wanted! She would generously share her opinion, wanted or not, but one consistent message was "save your money."
Vita's memory will forever be in the hearts of her siblings– Joseph (Miki), Veronica, as well as her ten nieces and nephews and their spouses/significant others. Vita was predeceased by her husband Sully, her sister Virginia in March of this year and by her parents, Dora and Joseph Carlone.
Per Vita's request there will be no viewing but a celebratory Mass will be held at St. Catherine Church 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake, NJ 07762-1143 at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 7th with burial to follow at George Washington Memorial Park 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652 where Vita will be put to her final resting place with her best shipmate, Sully.
A celebration of life will be held early in 2025.
