Vivian Cortez Geter (Viv) was born on August 19, 1956, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to the late Cora Lee Patterson and Earl Robinson. She departed this life on February 20, 2025, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Vivian was a proud graduate of Northwestern High School and later attended York Technical College. She dedicated much of her career to industrial work before transitioning into the home healthcare industry, where her compassion and kindness truly shined. She was also the beloved wife of military veteran John Geter.

Vivian was known for her beautiful spirit and generous heart—she never met a stranger. She had a gift for bringing people together, often hosting gatherings where family and friends felt at home. Her door was always open to those in need. In her spare time, she found joy in cooking, listening to music, and sharing uplifting words with anyone who would listen.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John “Chicken” Geter; her son, Octavious “Twain” Patterson; her grandmother, Ammie Berry Jones; her uncle, John Henry Jones; her brother-in-law, Raymond Miller; and her niece, Roshunda Watkins.

Vivian leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Shameka Barber (Charles “Nine” Barber) of Rock Hill, SC, and Corteshia Bailey-Norman (Dion Norman) of Charlotte, NC; six beautiful grandchildren—Octavious, TJ, Erika, Shacoria, Charles Jr., and August; her siblings, Sonny Patterson (Katie) of Charlotte, NC, Shirley Patterson Graham (Ervin) of Rock Hill, SC, Bobby Patterson (Nancy) of Charlotte, NC, Barbara Patterson Miller of Rock Hill, SC, and Larry Patterson (Michelle) of Kings Mountain, NC; her sister-in-law, Leah Patterson of Charlotte, NC; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Vivian’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for others will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Her favorite sayings was- ''The Earth was my turf, don't give me a headache, my god knows my heart".

Lastly, She Had One Face - Always The Same Generous Loving Person.

She Was A Voice Of Reason.

Mother Didn't Meet A Stranger - She Loved Everyone No Matter Their Situation.

She Was Always Laughing And Loved A Good Old Fish Fry Party.
