Waddie E. Gist Sr. was born on August 31st, 1944, in Union, South Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
Waddie married the love of his life, Doris Lee Gist on September 5, 1965 and they had five children, Waddie Gist, Jr., Darryl Gist, Stephanie A. Gist, Andrea D. Gist and Victoria L. Gist.
Waddie was a retired employee of Winzinger Incorporated. He worked as a contractor, specializing in road pavement.
Waddie's favorite things to do were watch old western movies, play crossword scratch offs, have Saturday morning breakfast and coffee with daughter, Vicky and spend time with his grandchildren.
Waddie was preceded in death by his mother, Lizzie Gist and father, George Cortelyou Gibson; beloved wife, Doris L. Gist; son, Darryl Gist; daughter, Andrea D. Gist; brothers, Willie Lee Gist, John Lee Gist and BJ Wright and a sister, Nellie Ruth Wright-Spears.
Waddie leaves with cherished memories, his children, Waddie E. Gist, Jr., Stephanie A. Gist and Victoria L. Gist of Trenton, NJ; brothers, Matthew Wright of Jersey City, NJ, Donald Wright of Jersey City, NJ, and James Wright of Greenville, SC; sisters, Dianne Wright Talley of Greenville, SC, Betty Wright (Ivan) Sims of Buffalo, NY, Bernice Wright of Greenville, SC and Marylin Gibson of SC; grandson, Isiah Ashburn; granddaughters, Iyesha James, Aurelia S.K Jones, Brielle T. Gist, Kanaja M. Scott all of Trenton, NJ; great grandsons, Maurice V.R. Justiano Jr. and Tyree M.E. Downing as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
