Walter "Pooch" Batchelor Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Walter W. Batchelor on June 16, 2024. Affectionately known as "Pooch," was born on November 16, 1936, to Walter and Mildred (Weston) Batchelor, in Hamilton, Ohio. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Pooch touched the hearts of many with his kind and generous spirit. He graduated from William Henry Harrison High School in 1956 and dedicated 35 years of his career as a driver for Suburban Propane. Even after retirement, his passion for connecting with people led him to work at Whitewater Motors. Pooch was actively engaged in his community, coaching baseball, and serving as the past president of Harrison Junior Baseball.
A devoted husband to Judy Franklin Batchelor, Pooch cherished their marriage and the family they built together. Together, they shared a love for the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio Buckeyes, and cherished family vacations to Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach, and Branson, MO. Pooch was a proud grandfather who never missed an opportunity to express his admiration for his grandchildren's achievements.
Those who knew him would say he was the unofficial mayor of Harrison because he loved Harrison and always seemed to know what was going on... well he knew 1/2 of what was going on and he made up the other 1/2. His love for his hometown was evident in his frequent visits to local establishments like Harrison Home Bakery, Coffee Peddlar, and Nick's Restaurant.
Pooch will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Pooch was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy in 2021; parents Walter and Mildred (Weston) Batchelor, sisters: Pat Trentman and Nancy Dahlenburg.
He leaves lasting memories with his children: Terry (Stuart) Lake, Todd (Beverly) Batchelor, and Jeff (Cindy) Batchelor; cherished grandchildren: Megan (Trevor Lohr) Lake, Katie (Linda Chaney) Lake, Ashley (Ryan) Bley, Ryan (Missy) Batchelor, Josh (Jenny) Batchelor and Zach (Mikki Stanton) Hammonds; great grandchildren: Vedder & Krew Batchelor, DeLaney Tyler & Remi Pearl Batchelor, Alinea, Genevieve & Ivy Bley, Markus & Rory Hammonds.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family requested memorials to be made to the Harrison Fire & EMS Department that were always there to help Pooch.

I just received the heartbreaking news that one of my beloved clients, whom I've had the privilege of knowing & working with for well over 20 years, has passed away. Rest in peace dear “Pooch” Walter Bachelor of Harrison and know you will be truly missed!!!!

This news has brought a mix of emotions and a reminder of the deep connections we build with our beloved clients. The loss is profound, and my thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

Reflecting on the positive impact that he had on my life and the lives of others brings some comfort. It's important to cherish such great memories and the good times sincerely shared. What a kind kind kind man and I’m grateful for knowing him He was so complimentive and I’m going to miss his many calls.
