Walter Bruce Cater, 70, of Temple, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2026.
Walter was born on February 19, 1955, in Temple, Texas, to the late Sam and Joyce Cater. He spent his life rooted in the community he called home. Walter pursued higher education, earning his bachelor’s degree from A&M University and later completing his master’s degree at Texas State University. He built a career working in accounting and car sales, fields in which he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Walter was a proud Cowboys and Rangers fan and enjoyed music and spending time with those closest to him. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, his loyalty to family, and the steady presence he brought into the lives of those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Joyce Cater.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Joe Cater; his sisters, Lynda Rieger and her husband Ken Rieger, and Kim Joseph Hansen and her husband Steve Hansen; his stepson, Dan Glushko and wife Mackenzie Glushko; and his granddaughter, Stella Glushko.
Services are entrusted to Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Temple.
