Walter "June" Eugene Hooks Jr., 79, of Concord, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

 Hooks was born June 1, 1944 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Walter Eugene Hooks Sr. and the late Ada Mae Stegall. 
He was the 6th child, growing up with 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. 

After working years at Whitley's, June and Leroy McDonald opened Hwy 49 Truck and Trailer Repair in 1989. Where he worked for over 20 years before retiring in 2012. Everyone that knew him, knew you could find him most evenings in the garage working to restore classic cars and watching ball games. He had a love for cars but especially his '57 Chevy Bel Air. June loved traveling and spending time with Tammy, his wife of 39 years. He loved his family and friends and would do anything to help others. He was a man of few words but his actions always spoke for his kindness and generosity.
 
Survivors include wife, Tammy Hooks of Concord, NC, son, Michael Christopher (Regina) McDonald of Concord, NC; grandsons, Dylan Christopher McDonald and Cody David Mcdonald, nephews; Matthew Eugene McDonald, Frankie Bernard Hooks, Robert Hooks, Darrell Hooks, Ricky Hooks, and Julius Hooks, along with nieces; Katie Diane McDonald, Rebecca Christine McDonald, and Fran Hooks.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Hooks family.
