On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, our beloved Mr. Walter J. Lampkin “Sonny” went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 84. Walter passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 21, 1940, in Belzoni, MS, Walter was the only child born to Ralph and Jullie Mae Lampkin.

Walter accepted Christ at an early age. Walter graduated from Liberty Hill High School class of 1961 in Oktibbeha County, MS. He was a hard-working, dedicated family man. he lived a life filled with kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends. Walter touched the lives of everyone he met. He found joy in Barbecuing and keeping his lawn immaculate.

Walter retired in 2005 from General Motors' Grey Iron Foundry after 44 years of dedicated service.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 56 years, Tantileer Lampkin; his two daughters; Sherrill Kilgore, Lorain, OH and Tracy (James)Green, Saginaw, MI; four grandchildren, Marcus Lampkin, Lorain, OH, Mikara Lampkin, Memphis, TN, Chris Harris, Lorain, OH, and Jana’y Green, Saginaw, MI; five great grandchildren; special great-grandson Chance Lampkin; three sisters-in-law, Joann Reser, Shreveport, LA, Jessie Todd, Memphis, TN, and Grace Hollowell, Palm Bay, FL; two brothers-in-law, Gregory Scott and James(Paulette) Scott, Memphis, TN; a host of much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and his" In and Out Party Store" friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his son, Reginald Lampkin; his parents, Ralph and Jullie Mae Lampkin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Reola Scott; sisters-in-law, Katherine Presley, Raynell Gates, and Shirley Scott; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Scott, Bobby Scott, and Gerald Scott.
