Walter was a lifetime resident of Morristown. Walter was a graduate of West High School, Morristown College and Tennessee State University. He was an employee of BASF Fibers for over 30 years. Walter was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend.
Walter leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 56 years, Karen Brown Long; son, Walt (Melissa) Long; daughter, Libby (Warnell) Cobbs; sisters, Evelyn (Roger) Brown and Bettie (Robert) Kyle; grandchildren, Quentin Long, Preston Long, Colby Glover, and Ahmad Cobbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Long, Jr; mother, Mae Stewart Long; and brother, Mackey Long.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 12pm to 1pm at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home with services immediately following. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Walter, please visit our Tree Store.
