Walter “Allen” (Grumpy) McNeely, age 60, ran straight into the arms of Jesus, free of pain, on Friday, November 1, 2024, after an extended illness.

Born in Greenville, SC on May 19, 1964, he was the son of the late Walter Abner McNeely and Julia Mae Cassell McNeely. Grandparents were the late Rev. Shirley and Lily C. McNeely and the late Ernest and Lizzie G. Cassell.

Allen spent his entire life in the Greenville area of South Carolina. He was a 1981 graduate of Berea High School, where he proudly played the trombone, in the marching Green Machine band, and the concert band. His passion was riding his motorcycle, especially on Toys for Tots and other benefit rides. He was a machinist and welder and a Christian of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his dad and grandparents, he was greeted in Heaven by the love of his life, Gina Consuelo McNeely and his brother-in-law, Michael Brooks, Sr.

Left to treasure his memory, along with his precious mama, are his two (2) sisters; Kathy McNeely Brooks, Easley, SC and Judy McNeely Gilbert Rigg (John), Pikeville, TN; four (4) daughters, Amber Elizabeth McNeely, Katrina Martin, Jenaeya Dicochea and Lyneesa Holmes; two (2) granddaughters; two (2) nieces, three (3) nephews; eight (8) great-nieces, six (6) great-nephews; one (1) great-niece; and his four-legged friend and companion, “Bear”.

A special thank you to Jennie Sue and Darlene Cassell, for their tireless trips to be certain Allen’s mama could visit him and bring him home cooked meals, warm clothing and anything else that was needed. Also to Kim Stager “Pappy”, long-time friend and recent care-taker, Jamie Osborne, Hospice nurse and Angel Hall, Hospice CNA, for their care of Allen, during his illness.

A celebration of life will be held, on Saturday afternoon, November 9, at 2:00, in the chapel of Westville Funeral Home, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC
