Walter A. Miekos Jr., age 79, of Newport, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Monroe Springs in Monroe, Michigan.
Born on November 5, 1945 in Carleton, Michigan, he was the son of Walter and Helen (Molinda) Miekos. On September 21, 1991 he married Sandra Greene at Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroe, MI.
He was employed with DT&I / CNN as a car inspector for 25+ years until retiring in 1996.
Walter was a member of the Detroit Beach Boat Club. He enjoyed watching western movies, riding his Honda Gold Wing. He loved nature with walks and drives through parks. He had a special love for his cats
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Leonard Miekos, Carol Ziegler, Nancy Dye, Donald Miekos.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Miekos, children, Robin (Neal) Brinkman, Denise Miekos, Ryan (Mindy) Miekos, stepchildren, Lonnie (Tammie) Peterlin, Cory (Amanda) Peterlin, grandchildren, Reid, Alicia, Ryan, Jackson, Cole, step grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Brooklyn, Brittany, Marissa, Carson, Wyatt, great-grandchildren, Alivia, Aiden, Cecelia, Xavier, step great-grandchildren, Dawson, Scarlet, Carter.
Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 10 am to 1 pm. A Time of Remembrance will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1 pm. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, La Salle, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Dementia Research.
