Our beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, and Brother passed away at home on January 28, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer.
Steven was born on April 17, 1954, in Murray, Utah, to Joyce Irene Plant and William G Phillips.
Steven graduated from Murray High School in 1973, proudly driving his prized canary yellow 1966 Firebird.
Steven met a beautiful waitress over coffee at the Hub 5 Truck stop, Steven married that waitress and the love of his life Cheryl Anne Crosby Phillips on June 29, 1974, in Magna, Utah. They built their life and family in Taylorsville, Utah and later resided in Riverton, Utah.
He was a member of Utah Pipe Trades UA Local 57 now known as140, working for Moss Industrial until retiring on May 1, 2016.
Steven loved spending time with family hunting, fishing, watching his boys win belt buckles at rodeos, and supporting his grandchildren in their various sports activities. He loved his grandchildren, always staying in touch and involved in their lives even if to tell a joke or advice or just be a friend. He was a talented welder and created many cherished pieces for his family.
Steven is survived by his wife Cheryl Phillips, daughter Kimm (Kenny) McConnachie, sons Joff (Asenath) Phillips, Brian (MacKenzie) Phillips, Chayne (Andrea) Phillips, 9 grandchildren Jarin, Ruby, Ashtian, Dean, Curly, Sylas, Ford, Tennessee, Tracker. His loyal K9 companions Tigger and Nacho, and Parrots Hazel and Rio. Brother Mike (Alice) Ellison, sister in-law Alice (Gill) Wood, brother in-law David (Nyla) Crosby, and several aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews.
Steven is preceded in death by his granddaughter Indy Phillips (Brian, MacKenzie), his father William G. Phillips, mother Joyce (Roy) Miller, Curly and Arlene Crosby, brother Greg Miller, Eddie Crosby, Johnny (Lou) Crosby, Ronnie Crosby, Nephews Lony Crosby and Gilbert Wood Jr.
Viewing will be Friday, February 7, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm and prior to funeral 11:00 to 11:45 am. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025. All viewings and service will be held at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, UT 84095. Interment will take place at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
