Walter Zdunczyk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. - Wesleyville from Nov. 1 to Nov. 2, 2022.
Walter Zdunczyk, age 90, of Harborcreek, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Edinboro Manor. He was born in North East, PA on June 16, 1932, son of the late Frank and Lottie Wienczkowski Zdunczyk.

Wally was a 1950 graduate of East High School and served with the US Army, 29th Regimental Combat Team in Fort Benning, GA. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Hammermill/International Paper for 43 years. He loved camping, boating, fishing and hunting with his family. Wally enjoyed baseball and football and traveled to Cleveland and Pittsburgh to watch the pros play. He coached Little League and Pony League baseball in Harborcreek in the late 60's and early 70's.

Through the years, Wally and his wife, Franny, traveled and took tours throughout the country and abroad. He loved gardening and flowers, which he did for 65 years. He was a board member of the YMCA and Silver Sneakers Program for 27 years with his co-workers from Hammermill/IP. Wally and Franny had many backyard picnics with family and friends and enjoyed playing volleyball, horseshoes and cornhole. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wally is survived by three sons, Timothy Zdunczyk, Steven Zdunczyk and Thomas Zdunczyk (Stephanie); three granddaughters, Ashley Zdunczyk, Alexis Hansche (Jeremy) and Lauren Zdunczyk; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Abbie, Ariel and Cameron; his wonderful caregiver and friend, Kathy Shade, whom he loved dearly; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances "Franny" Zdunczyk; two sisters, Sophie Yosten and Irene Zaborowski; and two brothers, Steven and Edward Zdunczyk.

The family would like to thank the Edinboro Manor for the exceptional care given to Wally.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Thursday at 11 am. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571.
