Walter Worth Zimmerman, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2025 at his home. He was born in Guilford Couty on October 13, 1931 and was the son of the late Lawrence Worth Zimmerman and Lillie Iola Apple Zimmerman. He was the husband of 44 years to Sarah Rudd Zimmerman who survives.
Worth retired from AT&T as a parts Programmer after 30+ years. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. He was devoted to his family and especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, spending most his time in Hawaii. Worth leaves a legacy of faith as his life goal was to love God and to love others. Life is filled with transitions and although Worth’s life has ended on earth, his life in Heaven is just beginning. This, Worth believed with all his heart.
Worth is survived by his wife, Sarah Lou Rudd Zimmerman of the home; his son, Walter W. Zimmerman and wife, Helena of Dallas, Texas; his daughters: Teresa Smith and husband, Gary of Gibsonville, Robin Cain of Burlington, Vickie Branson and husband, Parker of Gibsonville; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Worth was preceded in death by his brothers: Raymond and Wade Zimmerman.
A service to celebrate Worth’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Harvest Baptist Church by Rev. Daniel Webster, Rev. Larry Lambert, and Rev. Allen Myers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home from 4:00 PM till 6:30 PM and other times at the home.
