Wanda Christen "Chris" Karshner

Wanda Christen Karshner "Chris", age 65, of Newark passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Chris was born in Vermont and raised by her parents Wanda and Donald Karshner in Ohio. She then moved to Delaware where she grew up and spent the rest of her life. Chris went on to become a Para-Professional with special needs children at Shue Medill middle school, a job she truly loved and cherished. Chris enjoyed watching old movies, shopping with her daughters, and going out to dinner with her friends where she usually had dessert picked out before dinner. In her free time, Chris loved gardening, boating with friends, going to the beach in the Outer Banks, NC, and most of all being a Nana and spending time with the people she loved.
Chris was an extraordinary person who had a love for life and her family. She had a remarkable sense of humor and laugh that could light up a room. People were naturally drawn to her because of her warmth and caring personality. Chris was a beloved soul whose youthful spirit and playful heart was a constant source of happiness for all who knew her.
Chris is survived by her loving and devoted spouse of 29 years, Eric Lang; adoring daughters, Alexandra (Kyle) Leech and, Carolyn (Garrett) Reed; step son, Eric Lang; grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, and Kendal Leech, and Trey, Nixon, Van (coming in December), and Crew (coming in December) Reed; brother, Donald Karshner; two beloved dogs Marley and Gracie, and numerous close family and friends whom she all loved.
A visitation for Chris will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit from 10:30AM to 12PM, with a memorial service following at 12PM. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Chris's name to the National Humane Society, 40 E Main Street #364-H, Newark, DE 19711 (nationalhumanesociety.org)
