Wanda Diane Nix, 69, of Wichita Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Wanda was the daughter of the late Maxine (Sokora) and Duane Lloyd Case. She was born on April 12, 1955 in Kimball, Nebraska. Wanda and John Thompson Nix were married on December 2, 1982 in Clayton, New Mexico.
Wanda loved to travel and experience this country. She moved regularly as a child and traveled often in her young life. She chose to plant roots and establish her home in Wichita Falls. Although not a native, Wanda was absolutely a Texan. She loved everything about Texas, especially the Blue Bonnet fields in the spring. Wanda was a loving mother and always involved in her children's lives. Wanda was an employee of Lamar Elementary, working as a special education paraprofessional among other roles, for over 11 years. Wanda was also very active in the PTA and served as president for numerous years. Her spirit will live on through the many children she touched during her time. She accepted every child with an open heart, open arms and a perpetual smile. A tremendous supporter of the military, she was especially proud of her family members who served, and there was always an American Flag flying in her yard. Most important to Wanda was her family. She was patient and kind, but always honest with feelings.
Along with her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her daughters Sheryl Martinez and Amanda Pratt; sons Edward Langdon and Jason Nix; sister Ileene Case and brothers Darrell Case and Terry Case; granddaughters Ava Pratt and Heather Bentley; grandsons Jacob Pratt, Colton Nix, Owen Pratt and Austin Pratt.
Wanda's wish was to be cremated and to not have any memorial services.
