Wanda L (Mathews) Pyhtila, age 63 of Colleyville, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Wanda was born March 31, 1962 in Corning, NY to the late Leslie and Mildred Mathews.
Wanda was a servant of Christ and a caregiver to all. She was a dedicated nurse for many years and later received a bachelor's in Speech Pathology from Ithaca College. Wanda loved her family, walks in the woods, bluebirds and her precious dog Molly Mae.
Wanda is survived by her two children: Eric (Brittany) Pyhtila, Christine (Thomas) Frost; three grandchildren: Ethan, Elias, and Nora; six siblings: Timothy (Fran) Mathews, Brenda (Donnie) Self, Larry (Megan) Mathews, Charlotte McConnell, Patricia (Stephen) Dixon, Helen (Dan) Owens, along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service at Central Baptist Church, 11791 East Corning Rd, Corning NY, May 3, 2025 at 11:00am. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at The Gathering at Bailey Creek, 2355 Bailey Creek Rd, Corning NY. In celebration of Wanda's life feel free to wear her favorite color blue or bright colors. There will be a private burial at Maple Grove cemetery for immediate family.
Wanda had a passion for the well being of children, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
