Wanema "Jerry" Painter Gnegy, 93, of Oakland, departed this life on January 26, 2025, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on May 20, 1931, in Mingo, WV, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Juanita (Brady) Moore.

Jerry was a proud homemaker who loved caring for her family. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her cats, and was passionate about ensuring they were well cared for. She would often feed any stray animals that came to her home. Jerry enjoyed gardening, listening to country music, and observing butterflies. She also cherished spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Gnegy; her daughter, Terry Stanea and husband David of Coeur d'Alene, ID; two grandchildren, Theresa Upole and Samuel Wamsley; three brothers, Virgil Moore and wife Jean, Lenord Moore, and Luther Ratliff; along with several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Painter; two children, Sharon Painter and William "Bill" Painter; and three brothers, Roger Lee Moore, Kenny Moore, and Ralph Moore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Garrett County.

Friends will be received on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 12 to 2 PM, at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home is honored to be serving Jerry's family.
