Waneta Mary Mayhew, a cherished homemaker and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the age of 103 in Presque Isle, MI. She was born on June 30, 1922, in South Branch, MI to Clyde and Mildred (Montney) Belden. Waneta lived her entire life in Rose City, MI and a life filled with love, family, and dedication.

Throughout her life, Waneta exemplified the virtues of hard work and nurturing, raising her children with an abundance of care and support. She instilled in them the importance of family values and the joys of simple pleasures, often found in her daily walks and the vibrant garden she tended with passion. Waneta's love for gardening not only beautified her surroundings but also served as a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Waneta is survived by her loving children: Joanne Oulch, Bubbles Smith, Donna Mayhew, Jackie (Mike) Mitchell, and Wendy (Kevin) Dault. In addition to her children, she leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Hershall, her sons: Roger, Ray, and Richard, and daughter Kay. Waneta was also preceded by her parents, along with her brothers, Woodrow, Sam, Lee, and Rahl, and sisters, Lucille and Donna.

A memorial service will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City, MI on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m.
