Warren M. “Pete” McElroy, 98, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his home. Born in French Camp on January 17, 1927, he was a son to Steve and Oda Parkerson McElroy. He attended school in Indianola, and he was a U.S. Army veteran service during World War II attaining the rank of T-5 Corporal. Pete owned and operated McElroy Grocery for 14 years and he retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier after 31 years of service. He never shirked work and instilled the value of hard work to his children, and he could fix just about anything. He was the oldest member, 73 years of First Baptist Church in Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Mark Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Jimmy McElroy (Mary), Hamilton and Steve McElroy, Aberdeen; daughters, Carolyn Reynolds (Andy), Hamilton, twins, Jane Mink, Hamilton and Jo Beth Burkheimer (Larry), Bernice, LA; one sister, Janice Ann Miller, Pearl, MS; 9 grandchildren, Sandy Nichols, Meredith Wilbanks, Andrea Reynolds, Jennifer Lasky, David Mink, Katie Self, Kerrie Andrews, Beth Bennett, and Jessica Ott; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren with one due in February; and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife of 77 years, Doris McElroy; sisters, Bonnie Lynn Anthony and Eloise Rosemond; and son-in-law, Tommy Mink.
Pallbearers will be David Mink, Blake Cheatwood, Eli Lasky, Nathan Nichols, Jamie Andrews, Nathan Self, Martin Nichols, and Brad Bennett.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
