It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, cousin and uncle, Warren William Britt, who departed this life on November 5, 2025, at the age of 80. Warren was born on July 2, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Warren was a star basketball player at East High School. He attended Kansas State Teacher's College of Pittsburg, in Pittsburg, Kansas. After graduating, Warren was recruited by IBM directly on campus. He spent many years at IBM working as a Systems Engineer, serving Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States. He loved golf, horse racing, dog racing and flashy cars. One of his favorite things to do was to talk sports with his young cousins, who always marveled at his knowledge of basketball players and delighted in his braggadocio style.
"Britt", as he was often called by those who knew him, had several long-term friendships - lasting from early childhood until his death.
Warren was the last surviving immediate family member, having been preceded in death by his parents, Helen Elizabeth Britt and Walter William Britt, as well as his two brothers, Wyatt Winston Britt and Wayne Walter Britt. Warren was also preceded in death by his dear Aunt Mildred and Uncle Bob Dudley. Warren is survived by two sons, Todd Britt and Brandon Britt, daughter, Avienne Sayles (Kenny), and their children Cortnee, Candice, Raeesah, Khamau, Ayannah, Najhee and Khalif, as well as nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Warren's life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 2 o'clock pm. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the legacy of Warren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Prospect Unit of The Salvation Army, which works diligently with the homeless, hungry and addicted, as well as children of the central city. https://donate.salarmymokan.org/campaign/give-with-joy-prospect-25/c743949 Arrangements entrusted to the Watkins Heritage Chapel.
