Warren Chong Der was born in Canton, China, to Chuck Ming and Kam Yee Der. He was the third of five sons and immigrated by boat to the United States when he was six years old. He grew up in Chinatown in Chicago and attended college in St. Louis, where he met his wife, Chi-Lui, and earned his MBA from Washington University. Warren and Chi-Lui have been blessed with their three children—Wendy, Justin, and Nathan—along with their spouses and twelve grandchildren.
Warren worked in the financial planning business for most of his life, learned to trust God for His provision, and enjoyed helping others with their life insurance and retirement planning. He was a strong believer and follower of Jesus Christ who loved God, loved his family, and loved others. He lived a full and generous life, enjoyed playing ping pong, traveling, eating good food, meeting new people, showing care for others, and serving at church and Bible Study Fellowship. He was loved and appreciated by people all over the world.
On April 25, 2025, Warren passed into his heavenly home, surrounded by family and friends, after complications from a massive heart attack. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and loved ones. Lines from one of his favorite hymns are: "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow; because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives!"
Because Christ died and rose from the dead, we know that Warren is in the arms of his loving Lord and Savior, living eternity to the fullest, and we look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 4–8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (2211 Clarkson Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63017) and Warren’s Celebration of Life service will be on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Chesterfield Community Church (14647 Ladue Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63017).
