Warren K. "Bud" Sperberg, age 93 of Shawano, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Bud was born on May 7, 1931, in the Town of Richmond, Shawano County, a son of the late Albert and Anna (Schweitzer) Sperberg. Bud lived in Shawano all his life. He attended Red River Country School, then attended Shawano High School before entering the U.S. Army in 1948 serving in Occupied Japan/Korea during the Korean Conflict. Bud was proud of serving his Country and received an Honorable Discharge on April 1, 1952. On April 26, 1952, Bud was united in marriage to the former Margie Wruck, his wife and best friend. They were blessed with 69 years together. Margie passed away on January 14, 2022. Bud is a member of the Shawano United Methodist Church "The Church on the Hill."
Bud enjoyed bird watching, country music, hunting, and going on annual fishing trips to Canada with Margie. Family was his first love in life, with woodworking his second. Bud was always happy when working with wood and building for family and friends. One of his biggest accomplishments was building his and Margie's second home on the Wolf River. Bud was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Bucks. Winning or losing he would follow the games.
Bud retired from FWD/Seagrave in Clintonville after 28 years of service. He was chief shipping clerk and warehouse supervisor and enjoyed the people he worked with. Bud was also a member of the Shawano Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Laura (Rob) Schultz of Shawano and Linda (Jim) Meidam of Clintonville; his grand-daughter, Jill (Sam II) Sousek of Shawano; two step great-grandsons, Zack (Kendra) Sousek and their daughter Grace of Appleton, and Seth Sousek of Oconomowoc. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; infant son, Kenneth Warren; his parents; six brothers and their spouses, Harry (Beatrice) Sperberg, Herbert (Dorothy) Sperberg, George (Viola) Sperberg, Raymond (Violet) Sperberg, Adolph (Beatrice) and his second wife (Julia Elst) Sperberg, Arthur (Norma) Sperberg; four sisters and their spouses, Wilma (Ferdinand) Kohn, Margaret (Arnie) Schmilter, Lila (Gordon) Egen, and Ruth (Ray Schultz) and her second husband Vern Habeck. He was also preceded in death by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Warren "Bud" Sperberg will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 11:00 am at Shawano United Methodist Church. Reverend Dukkan Daniel Kim will officiate. Interment will be in Salem United Methodist Cemetery - Red River. Visitation will begin at the church on Thursday at 10:00 am and continue until the time of service. VFW Post #2723 will conduct military honors at the church.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested that all memorials be directed to the Salem Red River United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in Warren's "Bud" name.
"The family would like to express appreciation and thanks to the staff at Evergreen Health Services who took such good care of Bud."
