Wayne E. Darling

Wayne E. Darling, age 72, of Ilion, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. He had the comfort of his family by his side.    Wayne was born on July 15, 1950 in Herkimer. The son of the late Harry and Luanna Darling. He attended Mohawk Central Schools.  On April 2, 1977, he married Patricia Smith in the Mohawk Reformed Church. They were married for 38 years until her passing on November 8, 2015.  Wayne was employed with Remington Arms and worked there for 39 years.    He enjoyed being outdoors playing golf, hunting, camping, riding his 4-wheeler and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.    Surviving is a son, Keith Darling and wife Krista of Ilion, a daughter, Kari Darling and Jeremy Conant of Mohawk, three sisters, Linda Rood, Robin Shoen and Susan Moynihan, a brother Rick Darling, five grandchildren, Tanner, Kamryn and Adalyn Darling, Jackson and Natalie Conant, a friend and brother-in-law, David Smith, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his canine companion, Maxine. Besides parents and wife, Patricia, he is predeceased by his brother, Keith Darling and daughter Lisa Marie.    In keeping with Wayne's wishes, there will be no services.  Arrangements are under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johmsville, 315-508-5131.
