Wayne LaVar Heugly
Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Wayne LaVar Heugly, age 97, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona. Wayne was born March 31, 1928, in Murray, Utah, the son of David LaVar and Daisy Milne Heugly. He married Virginia (Ginger) Jean Bernards on December 22, 1951.
As a boy, Wayne worked on his parents' fruit farm; later he attended college and graduated with a master's degree in accounting from the University of Utah. He served in The Utah Air National Guard, and later in the United States Air Force. He worked in the finance department for Standard Oil of California, which eventually became Chevron Oil Corporation. He worked in many assignments in the finance department and spent the last ten years as Manager of The Crude Oil Supply Group in Walnut Creek, California. Wayne retired from Chevron Oil Corporation after a distinguished 38-year career. He and Ginger served an LDS Church Service Mission as service missionaries at The LDS Employment Center in Concord, California.
Wayne's interests include traveling with Ginger and going camping and fishing with family members. Wayne enjoyed serving in a variety of rewarding LDS Church callings and assignments. Wayne was a kind, patient, and loving individual. He had an optimistic attitude, a hearty laugh and smile. He loved his family very much. His passing saddens us, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his four children: Michael K. Heugly, Celeste (Frank) Pabian, Scott W. Heugly, and Linda (Keith) Copley; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his three brothers: Ross M. Heugly, Leo G. Heugly, and Dale M. Heugly. Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Ginger) Heugly, parents and sister, Joy E. Heugly.
A viewing will be held on October 28, 2025 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel (4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah). A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.)
