Wayne Hamilton Lee, Sr., 81, husband of Hannah Eileen Blankenship Lee, died Friday, December 13, 2024.
Born August 3, 1943, in Fayetteville, NC, he was a son of the late Wayne Claude Lee and the late Myrtle Carpenter Lee. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was formerly employed by T.A. Davis Datsun, T.A. Davis Nissan, Jones Nissan, and retired from Palmetto Nissan in Florence. Following his retirement, he was employed as the custodian at Northside Memorial Baptist Church for 10 years. He was also the past owner of Palmetto Equipment Company. Wayne enjoyed restoring a 1973 Plymouth Duster and a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle. He was a fan of Kart racing.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years; two children, Regina Eileen Lee-Layton (Kirk) and Wayne Hamilton Lee, Jr.; and his Boykin Spaniel, Gunner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James "Jimmy" Carpenter Lee; and a Boykin Spaniel, Rex.
A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to luckypawsrescueinc.org.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
