Wayne Newcomb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Jan. 15, 2025.
Wayne Newcomb, 73, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. Wayne was born in Johnston County to the late Joseph and Ruth Britt Newcomb on September 25, 1951. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Brantham Newcomb and brothers, J.W. Newcomb and Leon Newcomb.
Wayne graduated from Princeton High School. He had worked for many years as a self-employed truck driver but had also worked as a shop foreman with Greenville Paving and in traffic control with UTS. Wayne will be remembered for his ability to fix almost anything and always enjoyed the opportunity to work on an 18 wheeler truck. He was happiest when he could teach others how to perfect his trade.
Wayne's greatest love was for his family and he took pride in being the patriarch. He was known to teach them many life skills that would help them through life. As a one man operation (his favorite saying), Wayne was always ready to give great advice on the many projects he would always start. He was most proud of his sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, and made sure to stay involved in all their lives.
He was a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church in Albertson.
Wayne was always most comfortable in his work clothes so please come as you are either in your work clothes or casual clothes so you can honor him as he will be dressed for his service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Randi Taylor and Johnny Pickett presiding. Interment will be on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Newcomb Family Cemetery, 333 Jerusalem Church Road, Seven Springs. At other times, the family will be at Wayne's home, 869 Riverbend Road N, Goldsboro.
Wayne is survived by his sons, Anthony Newcomb and wife, Dina and Joe Newcomb and wife, Christi; grandchildren, Makayla, Joshua, Reagan and Katie; sisters, Louise Jinnette and Mary Toler; and a special friend of the family, Margaret Elliott.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
