Wayne Pleasant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory on Apr. 29, 2024.
Wayne Lee Pleasant Jr. was born on August 22, 1975, in Camden, New Jersey. He attended Washington Township High School in New Jersey. After graduation, he pursued a dual degree in IT and Accounting at Rider University. He continued his educational journey at Georgia State University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Information Systems Management Technology.
Throughout his career, Wayne excelled professionally, holding positions at several Fortune 500 companies. At the time of his passing, he was an Associate Director at Robert Half Consulting Firm, Protiviti.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Wayne was deeply committed to community service. He was an active member of The 100 Black Men of Atlanta Inc., where he served as treasurer and was honored with The Hank Aaron Member of the Year Award.
Wayne had a passion for golf and poker, winning accolades such as the Steve Harvey Invitational Golf Classic longest drive contest and numerous World Series of Poker events. He prioritized experiences over material possessions, living life with a minimalist mindset.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Lee Pleasant Sr. and Robin Pleasant. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Dana Pleasant, and bonus daughter Danielle Young. He also leaves behind his brother, Phillip Pleasant, and nephews Philip Aaron Pleasant (PJ) and Jordan Pleasant and their mother Jametria Pleasant, as well as a large extended family and countless friends.
As Wayne often expressed, "I came to Atlanta to find me a Georgia Peach," but his impact extended far beyond initial aspirations. He leaves behind a treasured legacy and has touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and ability to bring people together.

I played the game of poker many years with Wayne. The Sunday before his passing we sat next to each other talking trash as usual. What was different about that day was he gave me a scripture, Proverbs 16:15 dealing with a conversation we were talking about. He didn't know this but the scripture touched me so deeply I posted on FB the next day. Fast forward a few days later he was gone. Man I think that moment of of vulnerability made this hit me different because all the years we played together we never talked biblical. Get the Poker room ready my man and may your spirit rest easy

Wayne.....was a big-hearted man. A positive inspiration of the community; driven-a go getter; wanted others to succeed and gave you truth to what you needed to hear whether you liked it or not; a larger supporter of family-a supportive cousin. Luv u Wayne
