Wayne A. Rogers

Wayne A. Rogers, 85, former well-driller at Layne-Western (42 years) and proud member of the Local 150 Union, died peacefully in his home on Monday, November 13th, 2023. Wayne was born on November 13th, 1938, to Elizabeth Malmgren-Albright and Earl Rogers in Aurora, IL and he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Theodore (Ted) Malmgreen. He lived in the city of Aurora, IL nearly all his life as well as St. Charles and Oswego, IL.
Wayne was a talented football player for West Aurora High School and graduated in 1957 (football being the only thing getting him through school). He started working at the sheep yards in Montgomery, IL during his high school days and then started working at Layne-Western in 1958. He married the love of his life, Betty, on February 22nd, 1958, and they were married for nearly 40 years until her death in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers: Raymond (Ann) Rogers and Donny (Terry) Rogers, his daughter Pamela (Joe) Lychner, three grandchildren: Dustin Brenkus, Shannon and Katie Lychner.
He is survived by his brother, Arthur (Patsy) Rogers, stepsister, Roberta (Billy) Malmgren, two daughters Jan (Bob) Brenkus and Lori Musselman, along with three grandchildren: Michael Brenkus, Lacy (Dolph) and Brad Musselman.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023, at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at The Healy Chapel, 332 West Downer Place, Aurora, IL. Following visitation, he will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, 414 N River St, Montgomery, IL. Following his interment, friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life at the Amvets Post 103, 1194 Jericho Rd, Aurora, IL.
