Wayne Paul Stiner, age 82, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1st, 2025. Wayne was born November 25, 1942 in Muncie, Indiana to Paul and Maud (Bowser) Stiner.
Wayne and his loving wife Linda were married for 60 and a half years. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle; he is survived by his wife, Linda, son, Jeffery (Velda), grandson Keagan (Alyssa), 2 great-grandsons, Wesley 3, Aiden 1, sister Martha Uberta (Michael), sister-in-law Mary Stiner, nephew Brent Uberta (Anne), and nieces Rebecca Uberta (Wendy), Connie Langer (Phil). He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin, and brother Darrell.
Wayne graduated from Madison Heights High School (1960), completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Ball State University with majors in music and math (1964), and his Masters in Music Education from Indiana University (1968).
He participated in DeMolay International, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity, America's Home Town Band in Muncie, The Association of Concert Bands and Circle City Corvette Club.
Wayne began his teaching career as Band Director at Triton Central High School (1964). After much success with marching band and concert band he moved to the position of Band Director at Franklin Community High School (1967). In 1972, he took the position as Asst. Band Director at Lawrence Central High School. In 1980, he moved to Belzer Middle School as Band Director until his retirement in 1994.
After retirement, his interests turned to his passion for auto racing. He had been to every Indianapolis 500 since 1950. Upon picking up tickets for the next annual race, he inquired about a position at IMS. He was eventually offered a position as a host for the IMS Museum. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at the IMS Museum for 13 years. This led to his new found love of Corvettes.
Wayne's interests included French Horn, piano, boating and water skiing, car detailing, travel, spending winters at the Gulf in Orange Beach, Alabama and at Raccoon Lakeside Lodge in the summer.
Viewing for Wayne will be held on June 5th, 2025 from 11am-1pm with service following at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 5950 E Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park at a later date.
