David Francis Falconer, 84, of Lexington, Ky, passed away on July 17, 2025, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles, KY.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd at Rogers Funeral Home, Frankfort, KY from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Frankfort, KY on Thursday, July 24th at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery.
David was born in the farming community of Ryan, Iowa on April 8, 1941 to Charles Donald and Irene (McDonald) Falconer. He is a graduate of St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul, MN. He married Margaret Mary Fleming on August 21st, 1965 in Ryan, IA. A lifelong learner, David attended St. Ambrose College, Davenport, IA and Indiana University obtaining a Masters of Science. Thereafter he attained a myriad of degrees in the sciences.
Living in several states prior, the Falconer family settled in Frankfort, KY in 1989. David retired as a Major after 20+ years in the Army Reserves. David had a robust career working in corporate labs, teaching biology and eventually working for the State of Kentucky. David was an active member in the community of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing golf, flying small aircraft, fishing, target shooting, woodworking and was an avid reader and loved big band music.
David is survived by his four children, John Falconer, Lexington, Catherine Falconer, Lexington, Christina Falconer Simms (husband Ben), Alpharetta, GA, and Commander Thomas Falconer, US Navy (wife Yoshie), Honolulu, HI; his four grandchildren, Audrey, Jack, Charlie, and Dean; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret Fleming Falconer, his sister Kathleen Falconer Coopmans, his brother Joseph Falconer, and his parents Irene and Donald.
