Wed David Skillern

Born: March 12, 1943 | Died: April 21, 2025

Wed "David" Skillern, 82, of Rossville, GA passed away Monday, April 21, 2025. He was born on March 12, 1943, in Dayton, TN. David lived in Dayton for over 40 years and was a graduate of Dayton High School. He lived in Rossville for 40 years. He served as Deacon of Union Avenue Baptist Church. David retired from Roper Corp in Lafayette with 21 years of service and he was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in Vietnam. David loved the Lord, his family, and his church family. He was a man of many words, and you always knew what he was thinking. David also loved gardening and he was known for the beautiful flowers he grew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dana and Rema Skillern; and brother, Dana Skillern, Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Sheila Whaley Skillern; sister, Annette Headlee of Dayton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverends John Eldridge, James Dotson, and Randy Bivens officiating.

Interment will follow in the Center Point Cemetery in Rock Spring, GA.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
