Wendell Ray Everley, 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 at the Linda E. White Hospice House.
Wendell was born in Echols, Kentucky on February 17, 1936 to the late Lidas and Hazel (Bowen) Everley. He moved to Evansville with his family during World War II and was a proud 1955 graduate of Central High School. Wendell worked at A&P as a meat cutter. After A&P closed, he went to work as a gantry train operator at Alcoa until his retirement in 1998. Wendell maintained a close friendship and met up monthly with his friends from Howard Roosa Grade School and enjoyed watching baseball and football. Above all else, Wendell loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play.
Wendell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet (Roby) Everley; daughter, Wendy Everley; son, Tim Everley (Diana) ; sister, Joette McKasson; grandchildren, Alexandra Earl (Mathew) and Kelsey Everley (Christopher Mayfield); and by his great-grandchildren, Alistair Earl and Jordan Mayfield.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother-in-law, Richard McKasson.
A private graveside service will be held at Alexander Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Dr., Evansville, IN 47710.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the health care professionals at Linda E. White Hospice House and at DaVita North, especially Brandi, for their compassionate care.
