Wendell Alan Smith passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on May 13, 2025, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
Wendell was born on February 5, 1963, in Soperton, Georgia, to William Hardy and Mary Elsa Cauley Smith. He was a graduate of Montgomery County High School, Class of 1981, and received a BS in Business from Georgia College. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He dedicated his life to his family, friends, and businesses.
Wendell proudly served the Dublin community for over 30 years as the owner and operator of Medical Park Pharmacy and Tomlinson Pharmacy. His commitment to care and service to his customers and his love and appreciation for his employees was apparent.
Wendell was married to the love of his life, Patricia (Wendy) Wilder Smith, for forty years. Together they raised three wonderful children; Jackson, Carson, and Caroline, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, passion and love.
Wendell lived life to the fullest. He could light up any room he walked into with his contagious smile. Over the years, Wendell had many passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved trail riding on his mule, hunting, and riding his Harley with his friends. Boating, fishing, and relaxing at the lake with his family and friends and spending many evenings grilling with his buddies at the camp house were also important in his life. He was always happy anytime he could be in charge of the grill. He poured his time, energy, and heart into guiding countless young men as a Boy Scout Leader at Troop 65 in Dublin. His adventurous spirit, fun energy, and dedication to loving and mentoring others left a lasting legacy.
Wendell is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Wendy) Smith; his sons, Jackson Smith and Carson Smith; his daughter, Caroline Smith; his father, William Smith; his sisters, Patricia Howard (Dan) and Ellen Clifton (Steven); his nephew, Scott Howard; his niece, Madison Howard. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elsa Smith.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 19th from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
A celebration of Wendell's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 20th, at Dudley Baptist Church with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Perry, Dana Patisaul, Ernie Powell, Glynn Horne, Johnnie Thompson, Linc Jones, Lynn Horne, and Rodney Soles.
Wendell was loyal, intentional, strong, and kind. He never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
