Wendy Elizabeth Barton, a beacon of love and compassion, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Portage, Michigan. Born on June 17, 1946, in the charming town of Coldwater, Michigan, Wendy's tender spirit and unwavering dedication to her family encapsulated the essence of a devoted mother and cherished friend.
Throughout her life, Wendy embodied qualities of warmth and care, nurturing her sons, Todd Landis and Greg Landis, with an abundance of love and guidance. Her commitment to instilling values and providing her children with the tools to navigate life was a testament to her profound role as a mother. She was not merely a caregiver; she was a loving architect of their lives, ensuring their upbringing was rich with lessons and support.
Wendy’s passions were as vibrant as her personality. An avid collector with an eye for beauty, she found joy in shopping and crafting, expressing her creativity through various artistic endeavors. When not engaged in these enriching hobbies, Wendy often found solace in the pages of a good book—a love she diligently sought to share with her children during their formative years. Her serene moments could frequently be found in the garden, where she nurtured her beloved flowers, allowing her love for nature to flourish alongside her.
A social butterfly at heart, Wendy cherished the company of friends, often gracing the local theatres, such as the Barn Theatre and Miller Auditorium, sharing in the magic of live performances and enriching her life with cultural experiences. Furthermore, her participation in the Red Hat Society exemplified her spirited nature, as she embraced life with joy and fervor, surrounded by kindred spirits.
Wendy leaves behind her adored children, Todd and Greg, and her beloved sister, Patricia Anderson. She is reunited in eternal rest with her parents, John and Jean Rissman, and her brother, Glenn Rissman, who predeceased her.
As we remember Wendy Elizabeth Barton, let us carry forth her legacy of love, compassion, and the importance of connection. She has taught us that while we walk through this life, the bonds we forge and the love we share are the true measures of our existence. Her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her—an everlasting reminder of the beauty life offers and the joy of loving unconditionally.
