Wendy Batchelder Obituary

Wendy W. Batchelder, age 55, died unexpectedly on November, 15th. Wendy was the loving daughter of Gerald and Pauline (Ewald) Williamson and grew up in Hanover. She was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School, class of '88 and Stonehill College, class of "92.

Wendy loved comedy and had a distinctly recognized laugh that could be heard at comedy shows around Boston and Rhode Island. She was a great audience member and would even try her own stint at standup. She was drawn to observational comedy and her husband attended her first comedy gig at Jimbo's in Braintree and saw her do what so many others would fear to do and the positive reaction she received from the audience. Some of her favorite comedians were Robin Williams, Jim Gaffigan, Brian Regan, and Jerry Seinfeld, all of whom they got to see together in person.

Wendy worked for Meditech in Canton for many years and met her husband there. She and Ed enjoyed each others company and fell in love over dinners, comedy shows, and watching movies. They married on Sept. 18, 2009 in Hanover and would settle in Bridgewater where they raised their beloved daughter, Hayden. Being a mother was so important to Wendy. After fears it may not happen for her, she was miraculously blessed with a healthy baby girl. She loved holding her daughter and sharing her love of Halloween and Christmas holidays. It was her way of experiencing childhood again through her daughter's eyes and excitement. Her daughter was everything to her.

Wendy loved autumn and all of the fun it offered. Wendy and Ed shared many hay rides, apple and pumpkin picking, taking rides to leaf peep in New Hampshire and visited the Keene Fall Pumpkin Festival. When Wendy was younger she put lots of energy into hosting family Halloween parties with apple bobbing, crazy costumes, and other fun games. Wendy always cherished the time spent with her family and siblings. She spoke often of the memories of watching her young nieces and nephews and watching them grow.

Wendy also cherished her relationship with her "bestie" Debbie Bonavita, with whom she shared so many memories. In recent years those memories were often rehashed during movie nights and catching up. Debbie was a good friend to Wendy and her companionship meant the world.

Wendy's loving, kind, and determined personality will be missed by all who knew her. To know Wendy would be to know how sweet and endearing she could be and what a great listener she was. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Wendy was the loving daughter of Gerald and Pauline (Ewald) Williamson of West Bridgewater. She was the loving wife of Edward H. Batchelder of Bridgewater and devoted and loving mother of Hayden Batchelder. She was the loving sister of Gerald Williamson Jr. and his wife Naty of CO, Sandy Churchill and her husband Mark of West Bridgewater, Jim Williamson and his wife Laura of TN, Debby Williamson of New Bedford, and Bonny Chezik and her husband Peter of NJ. She is also survived by 10 loving nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

All are cordially invited to the Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater on Saturday, Nov. 29. A visitation period will be held from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. A funeral home service will begin at 2:30 pm. Burial will be private. Donations in memory of Wendy may be sent to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or click here.
