Werner K. Mews

Werner Kurt F. Mews, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 of Euclid, Ohio. Werner was born on October 25, 1934 in Kohlberg, E. Prussia Germany to the late Kurt and Alma (Schneider) Mews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Barbara (nee Koester) and his brothers Rudy Mews and Horst Mews of Krefeld, Germany.

Thanks to the Episcopalian church, Werner immigrated to the United States through NYC and settled in Euclid, Ohio in 1956. He was employed at Zagar Tool in Euclid for more than 44 years. It was at Zagar's Annual Christmas Party in December 1959, where he met his late wife Barbara, they married May 14, 1960 and had five children, Monica (Robert) Chukayne, Kurt (Lisa) Mews, Karl (Diane) Mews, Werner (Patricia) Mews and Krista Pennington, eight grandchildren, Brandon Chukayne, Alexis (Matt) Boone, Michelle (Caleb) Eckoff, Kaitlynn Mews, Kyle Mews, Arielle Pennington and AJ Pennington, and two great-grandchildren, Evagaline and Winnifred Eckoff.

Werner loved his Cleveland sports teams, especially the Browns and Indians. After retirement, Werner loved traveling with his wife throughout the United States, he treasured these memories. He also loved the many years he and his wife spent square dancing with the Maple Town Squares. Many treasured memories were spent camping, both with his young family with the Willowick Campers Club, and later in life for more than 30 years at Pine Lakes Campground where they had many dear friends and fond memories.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Shore Haven Lutheran Church, 280 E. 222, Euclid, Ohio, family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 pm prior to the funeral service.
