It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Whitney Bowe Connor, a cherished and remarkable woman whose warmth, kindness, and humor touched the lives of all who knew her. Whitney passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, just one day after her 84th birthday, reuniting with her beloved husband, John "Sean" Connor, who passed away only a month prior.
Whitney was born on October 29, 1940, in Providence, RI, to Edward and Margaret Bowe, who raised her to be a woman of compassion, adventure, and curiosity. Whitney graduated from North Providence High School, and then immediately began her career. She worked for many years at Narragansett Electric, NE Telephone, and retired from Bank of America.
Whitney had a special ability to connect with others and was always willing to lend a hand or a bit of humor or 'whit' when most needed. A passionate advocate for Irish culture, Whitney participated in a highly rated Irish music radio program on WGNG in RI called "The Sounds of Ireland", alongside her husband Sean Connor and recently deceased Mike Sheridan and Jim Murray.
Whtiney was involved for over 30 years with the Cole Farm Association Board of Directors and was a long-time volunteer for the Warwick Mentor Program.
Whitney was the beloved stepmother to Mary Connor, Sean Connor (Patricia), Brian Connor (Jacqueline), and Patrick Connor. She was also a devoted grandmother to Michaela Curran (Timothy), Liam, Margaret, Maegan, Sean, Declan, and Kellen Connor, who brought immense joy to her life. She was a great grandmother to Virginia Curran. She was the beloved aunt to William (Janice), Edward (Mary), Daniel (Maria), and Christopher (Lisa) Cardarelli and their children.
Whitney was predeceased by her parents, her sister Karen Cardarelli, and her husband, Sean. In addition to her family, she is survived by countless friends, who will forever hold their memories of her close. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire those who cherished her.
A Mass of Christian Burial for both Whitney and Sean will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Kevin's Church, 333 Sandy Lane,
Warwick, RI. A Celebration of Life for Whitney and Sean will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Whitney's memory to the San Miguel School, 525 Branch Avenue, Providence to continue her legacy of generosity and support for those underserved.
Whitney Bowe Connor will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. May she rest in eternal peace.
