Wilbert "Buzz "Olson passed away on December 2, 2023
He was born March 25, 1936 in Sandstone, Minnesota to Olaf "Truly" and Minnie (Vork) Olson.
He married his high school sweetheart Carol Wright on June 22, 1957 in Sandstone.
They welcomed two daughters Susan Glienke and Sharon Olson.
Wilbert served in the Navy and retired a 1 Class Radioman. He served in the Vietnam War and traveled to many locations with his wife Carol and children Susan and Sharon throughout+ his service.
He retired after serving 20 years and returned home to Sandstone. He was happy to help Carol at the family run business Ben Franklin. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends. He was a great cribbage player and loved working on electronics and woodworking. The family home boasted many Norwegian signs that he crafted himself.
He was a dedicated family man and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than when his granddaughters visited with their families. He loved being "Great Boppa" to his four great grandchildren.
Wilbert is survived by his daughters Susan Glienke and Sharon Olson; his granddaughters Holly Glienke (Edward Hollifield) and Kelly (Glienke) Van Sicklen (Barret Van Sicklen); great grandchildren, Owen Wright Van Sicklen, Harvey Stone Van Sicklen, Delainey Jo Van Sicklen and Derek Lee Hollifield
He was preceeded in death by his parents Olaf "Truly"and Minnie and wife Carol Ann Olson.
A service and burial is planned at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on March 25, 2024.
