Wilbur G. Ropp, was born December 12, 1942, in Kalona Iowa, the son of George C. and Fannie M. (Miller) Ropp. He died at his home in rural Kalona on January 13, 2025, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 1 day, following a brief illness. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and remained a faithful member until his death. He was united in marriage to Verna Esther Helmuth on November 28, 1967, living in matrimony for 57 years.
He is survived by his wife Verna, and 11 children, Kathleen (Lester) Miller, Edward (Emmaletta), Mervin (Pauline), David (Mary Esther), Edith (Eli) Borkholder, Dena (Timothy) Bontrager, Mahlon (Eileen), Rachel, Nathan (Edna), Dorothy (Leroy) Miller and Edna all of Kalona, Iowa. 72 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, two brothers Edwin (Anna) and Norman (Mary Jane), a sister Lydia, one sister-in-law Anna Mae all of Kalona. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant grandson John Ropp, two brothers Eldon and Lloyd, an infant brother Henry and a sister Mary.
A Funeral Service will be held 9:30 am Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Lester Miller Residence 5236 Hazelwood Ave Kalona, Iowa. Burial will be in the North Gingerich Cemetery rural Kalona. Visitation will be held all day Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the home place 2439 540th Street SW, Kalona and all day Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Lester Miller Residence 5236 Hazelwood Ave, Kalona. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for Wilbur and his family.
