Wilfred William Steinmann Jr., 72, passed away in his sleep early in the morning, Tuesday October 22, 2024, at his mother's home in Murray, Utah. Will was born December 9, 1951, in American Fork, Utah to Betty Herron and Wilfred William Steinmann Sr.
Will served in the Coast Guard from January 4, 1971, where he received a medal for National Defense Service. He was honorably discharged on January 3, 1975, where he received his Honorable Service Discharge medal. He was stationed in The Great Lakes; Governors Island, New York; and Mayport, Florida. He joined the Local 12 Operating Engineers Union in Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked until he was injured and put on disability. He was dedicated to raising his 4 children as a single father and spent the last 4 years of his life caring for his mother.
Will is survived by his 4 children; Holli Steinmann, Annette Steinmann, Nicole (Cody) Garrett, Vincent Steinmann; 2 Grandchildren Haleigh Hughes, Kaiden Steinmann; 5 Siblings Linda (Bob) Houston, Susan (Dave) Gornik, Vickie (Doug) Talbot, Matt (Kathleen) Smith, Alison (Zagg) Taylor; and his mom Betty Smith. He is preceded in death by his Father Wilfred W. Steinmann Sr., Stepmother Steven K. Steinmann, Stepfather Allen P. Smith, and Niece Kendallee A. Thornton.
Will was known best for his loving heart, contagious smile, selflessness, witty humor, and sarcasm. He was a supportive father, loving and dedicated son and brother, and a happy and playful grandfather.
The Viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State Street Murray, Utah at 10:00 am on Tuesday October 29, 2024. The funeral services will be held at the same location at 11:00 am. Interment in the Murray City Cemetery.
