SCHENECTADY - With hearts broken by an unthinkable loss, we mourn the tragic and senseless passing of Wilfredo "Freddy" Vasquez, who was taken far too soon by gun violence on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Freddy was born and educated in the Bronx, a son of the late Wilfredo and Sandra Cosme Vasquez, Sr.
Freddy was a loving brother, father and uncle; he was known for his loyalty, deep love of his family, and his integrity. He had hustle in his heart and never stopped pushing forward; he was a real go-getter, always chasing opportunities and making things happen. Freddy has a zest for life, and was on positive path to putting his life back in order, despite any challenges and struggles, he might have faced, and he always embraced life with a happy and positive outlook. Freddy expressed love through his passions; and wore his heart on his sleeve, not always through words, but with his actions. His love showed up in the rhythm of dance, his sharp dress and his cooking (always leaving the clean-up to those he loved to feed), especially the hundreds of cheeseburgers for our homeless and less fortunate. He moved through life with style and always looking out for others, he was always ready to fix what was broken, whether it was a bicycle, phone or a hurting heart,
His desire was to leave a positive thumbprint of his love, tenacity, kindness and generous spirit. He was a man who made a tangible difference in life.
Freddy was predeceased by his parents, Wilfredo and Sandra (Cosme) Vasquez, Sr.
Left to cherish his memory and legacy are those who so dearly loved him; his children, Jaylessa, Anylia, Wilfredo, Jassenya and Ny'leah; his partner, Mita and her children, Kayden, Jaydie and Myrzlis; brothers, Johnny Cosme and Rafael Pavon; sisters, Lissette Vasquez, Francis Vasquez, Aida (Raheem Berrios, and Lisa Vasquez (Miguel); nieces and nephews, Eliana, Skye, Mildred, Lisette, Precious, Genesis, Michael, Jr., Rose, Victoria, Wayne James, Noah, Keyana, Kenneth, Amerika, Harmony, Justice, Chelsea, Jacelyn, Jennifer and Miguel, Jr.; many aunts, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:30 at St. Luke's Church, State Street,
Schenectady, NY, with Fr. Dominic Isopo, officiating.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street from 3 to 7 pm.
