Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Care - WaterburyWATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of William “Bill” Rutka, age 63, of Waterbury, share the news of his peaceful passing following a brief illness on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on December 18, 1961, in Bristol, CT, the son of John and the late Suzanne (Biron) Rutka. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and then went on to work for many years as a skilled mechanic in the automotive industry. Bill took great pride in his work and his collection of cars, especially his beloved 442 Oldsmobile, which he cherished deeply. In his free time, he found peace and happiness at the beach, enjoying the simple pleasures of grilling and barbecues with family and friends. What Bill enjoyed the most, however, was spending time with his stepchildren and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to love and know him.
Left to honor his legacy is his partner of 34 years Carmen Rivera, his stepchildren; Kimberly Ruiz, Shirley Ruiz, and Keith Ruiz, sisters; Adele Musano, Judy Cullen, Carolynn Rutka, and Mary Lou (Steve) Miele. He also leaves nieces and nephews; Laura, Tracie, Jon, and Justin, along with extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jack and Marty Rutka.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Rutka will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with the Rutka family from 5:00 p.m. until the service begins at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
