Willard E. "Bill" Nemer, 99, of Evansville, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 surrounded by family.
Bill was born on March 30, 1925 in Evansville to the late John "Paul" and Clara (Haller) Nemer. He proudly joined the United States Navy Air Force in 1943 after graduating from Central High School. He finished his service to the country in 1946 just in time to be the best man at his friend's wedding where he met the love of his life Rosella "Dodie" Reine. They married in 1947 and had just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary when his beloved Dodie died in 2019. Bill and Dodie were founding members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Bill built much of the cabinetry still found in the church today.
Always willing to serve his country, Bill joined the Marine Corps Reserves and went to Korea with Company C out of Evansville.
Surviving Bill are his children, Cindy Nemer, Keith Nemer, Cherie (Jerry) Burgdorf and Cathy (John) Nemer-Dawson; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Rosella "Dodie" Nemer; by his youngest daughter, Christie Nemer in 2022; by granddaughters, Lara Burgdorf and Jessica Burgdorf and by brothers, Roscoe "Rocky" Nemer, Howard Nemer and Harold Nemer.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at Corpus Christi Church, 5528 Hogue Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 5528 Hogue Road, Evansville, IN 47712 or to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Drive, Evansville, IN 47710.
