William Edward Akers

William Edward Akers, 72, of Bradshaw, WV passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025. He was born November 17, 1952, in Welch, WV a son of the late Reverend Harold and Julia Hagerman Akers.
He married the love of his life Drema Brooks Akers on March 3, 1973. He was a retired Coal Miner from Island Creek & Consol Coal. William was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, grandsons, and his buddy & special neighbor Jerry Whitt. He was loved and adored by so many.
In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by his loving wife Drema Akers; two sisters Diana Chaffins and Ruby Keene; sister in laws, April Akers, Patricia McClanahan, and Alma Wheeler, father and mother-in-law Clarence and Virginia Shelton Brooks.
Those left to cherish his memory include his constant companions, Little Buddy and Nosy Rosie; his pride and joy, his children,
Shawn Akers and wife Tonya of Harmony, NC, Kristy Bailey and husband Brian of Austinville, VA, Angie Akers and spouse Matt Moore of Princeton, WV; his precious grandbabies, Nathan Akers & wife Jazmine, Alissa Smith & husband Curtis, and Will Akers all of Harmony, NC, Tanner and Dylan Bailey of Austinville, VA, Timothy and Raylin Blankenship of Princeton, WV; his precious great grandbabies, Zane, Addilyn, Cayden, baby Smith, and Skylar Akers all of Harmony, NC; special niece, Marlena Stimson; brothers, Johnnie (Josie) Akers of Atwell, WV, Doug Akers of Illinois, Jerry (Julie) Akers, and Raymond (Tonya) Akers all of Summerton, SC; sisters, Lana (Larry) Lambert of Harmony, NC, Loretta (Lint) Duncan of Rock, WV, Brenda Hagerman of Tazewell, VA, Carol (Brian) Stimson of Buchannon, WV, Elsie (Tim) Cowen of Summerton, SC, Verdie Shaffer of Oakhill, WV, and Diedra (Denny) Steele of Princeton, WV; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews that he loved so very much.
Friends may visit with the family at the Family Worship Center in Jolo, WV, Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025, after 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11 o'clock with Reverend Johnnie Akers and Pastor Johnny Copper officiating at the Family Worship Center in Jolo, WV. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Serving as pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
