William Lamar Allen

William Lamar Allen, age 76, of Canon, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at his home. Born on May 2, 1949, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Charles and Marjorie Carter Allen. Lamar's life was a testament to the value of hard work. A dedicated farmer, he found immense joy in working with poultry, cattle, goats, and anything that allowed him to provide for his family.

Lamar also drove a bus for Franklin County Schools for fifteen years and previously worked for Monroe Automotive Equipment for over a decade. His life was guided by a deep faith in Christ, and he was a devoted member of the Church of God.

Lamar is survived by his wife of 58 years, Susan Beebe Allen; his sons and daughters-in-law, Darren and Lisa Allen, and Wesley and Buffy Allen; his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Doyle Smith. He leaves behind grandchildren: Tyler and Miranda Allen, Eric and Savannah Allen, Brad and Taylor Allen, Sydney and Zach Haygood, and Elizabeth Smith; and his great-grandchildren, Sophie Allen and Hayleigh Allen.

His surviving siblings include sisters Patricia Allen Dobbs and Joyce Allen Bragg, and brothers Rev. Gettis Allen, Rev. Rodney Allen, Douglas Allen, and Edward Allen. Lamar was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Rev. Bobby Joe Allen and David Allen.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Johnny Willis. Lamar will be laid to rest in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
